About the Office of the DG
The Director-General leads the Ghana AIDS Commission Secretariat and serves as the principal advisor on the national HIV and AIDS response. The Office sets the strategic agenda, drives institutional performance, and represents the Commission in national and international forums.

Director General
Appointed to lead the Secretariat, the Director-General reports to the Governing Council and is accountable for the Commission’s strategic and operational performance.

Director General (DG)
Dr. Kharmacelle Prosper Akanbong
Serves as a member of the Board.
Oversees the implementation of performance management policy in the Commission.
Initiates action for the formulation of policies of the Commission.
Oversees the implementation of policies and programs of the Commission.
Exercises oversight responsibility for the efficient and effective management of the human, material and financial resources of the Commission.
Advise the Board and implement its decisions on corporate and operational policies.
Oversees the preparation and submission of annual budgets of the Commission to the Board for approval.
Oversees the preparation and submission of annual and other periodic reports to the Board.
Represents the Commission at local and international levels on matters relating to the functions of the Commission.
Provides strategic guidance for resource mobilization for the Commission.
Initiates, develops and maintains cooperative relationships with government, public and private sectors, development partners and other stakeholders in carrying out the mandate of the Commission.
