15th National HIV & AIDS Partnership Forum

15th National HIV & AIDS Partnership Forum

Under the theme “Celebrating Partnerships, Transforming Lives, Sustaining the Future,” the 15th National HIV&AIDS Partnership Forum brought together key stakeholders to reflect on four decades of Ghana’s HIV response and explore sustainable strategies towards ending AIDS by 2030.

Key discussions highlighted the need to:

Prioritise HIV prevention through targeted, data-driven interventions and stronger community engagement.

Improve access to accurate HIV information, particularly among young people and hard-to-reach communities.

Strengthen domestic financing by increasing government allocations and counterpart funding for the national HIV response.

Engage the Ministry of Finance in HIV financing discussions, with emphasis on the economic benefits of investing in prevention and treatment.

Explore alternative financing mechanisms, including debt swaps and the expansion of funding sources beyond the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Prioritise cost-effective, high-impact interventions and redirect resources from less effective programmes.

Advocate for the inclusion of HIV services in national health financing initiatives, including Mahama Cares.

Promote local production of condoms and essential HIV commodities through government commitment to local patronage and support for manufacturers.

Encourage Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to dedicate portions of their Common Fund to HIV prevention activities.

The message was clear: Sustaining Ghana’s HIV response requires stronger partnerships, increased domestic investment, community ownership and a renewed commitment to prevention
